What is Encrypted Backup?
Eristotle's Encrypted Backup feature lets you create a secure, portable copy of your journal that you can store anywhere β locally on your PC, on a flash drive, in Google Drive or OneDrive, etc. The backup file is encrypted with a password only you know: your 12-word recovery phrase.
Why would I need this?
By default, Eristotle syncs your journal to your private iCloud account. This works great if you always have access to iCloud, but what if:
- You forget your Apple ID password and can't recover your account?
- You want to keep a backup completely offline for extra peace of mind?
- You're switching to Android or Web App and want to transfer your data?
- You lose your device or it gets stolen?
Encrypted Backup gives you a safety net that doesn't depend on any cloud service.
